In this installment of “Getting to Know Your Bad Bitches” we field questions from Laura Straub. Laura Straub is a writer and the woman behind Vouched Books Atlanta. Her work can be read at Vouchedbooks.com, Creative Loafing, PASTE Magazine, Purge, and has forthcoming work with Bull Men’s Fiction, Housefire and others. Although seemingly innocent in appearance she is a totally bad  bitch- one of her proudest accomplishments is having beaten up the 5th grade class bully- Steve- after he made fun of Laura’s best friend on her birthday. Steve went on to join the Marines.

OCCUPATION: Production Manager of Tube// Vicereine of Vouched Books Atlanta // Whipcracker & Momentum Chief of the Inman Park Squirrel Census // Columnist at Creative Loafing

CHILDHOOD NICKNAME: Little Bit

A SECRET FANTASY: Singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. Wait, is this supposed to be raucous? Singing the National Anthem at the Superbowl…naked?

UNUSUAL FACT:  While in high-school I attended 8 different proms.

PET PEEVE: Giant squid and gutter punks- just their existence.

I’D LIKE TO MEET: Wait, is this a trick question? Can I time travel? If time travel is involved: Teddy Roosevelt. Andre Dubus. and my childhood hero, Bessie Coleman. If time travel is off limits: Joan Didion. Either way- Joan Didion.

PERSONAL MOTTO: ‘You can’t break my sunshine spirit.’- me or “You have to pick the places you don’t walk away from.” – Joan Didion or “I am trying to help my people.”- Pocahontas from Pocahontas

MOST PROUD OF: That bad joke I told.

REPUTATION IN HIGH SCHOOL: I was voted the Castle High school Class Clown of the graduating class of 2004. No joke.

THREE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE ME: Short. Hungry. Outgoing.
